Plugs for Springs?

In the Consultants derby this weekend. Was thinking a using some 6 inch spoons and 7 inch Tomic plugs to try to reduce the amount of pink hooks ups and reduce blowing through the chovies real fast. Up in CR this weekend and fished the hump and limited out quickly on #500 Tomic plug.

Anyone been using any plugs in Sooke with any success lately?

I believe the #500 Tomic plug should be working in Sooke .

I would like to use # 156, 158, 602, 603, 700, and 727.

Larger spoon, Kitchen Sink, No Banana, and the tomic spoons.

What speed are you trolling with plugs? I have some but never tried them.

You should consider trying the 5" tubby in 602 and 500. Might get the odd pink but if you keep your speed up a bit I think you'd have a good shot at springs.

With 7" plugs you might have to wait for a while longer...imho

In all seriousness I trolled around those nog needles and they still bit them... That's a very big spoon. They go absolutely mental for it. Plugs will be the same... The purple stuff they don't seem to like as much.. What I noticed last trip. All see you out there at the event..See you at pre-party if your coming.

The pinks aren't full on every day so start with bait and only switch off of it if they are thick. Monday morning I had 1 pink for 3 hrs fishing and 6 springs. Every day is different. The 727 colour is a good one for Sooke as I use that all the time as one of my go to teaser head patterns.

What speed are you trolling with plugs? I have some but never tried them.

3.3 to 3.8 mph is what I like to troll plugs at. If you have the tubby style plugs you can troll them the same as your spoons or hoochies etc.
