Plastic lucky Louis, J plugs vs wooden lucky louis

Yeah I have never dragged a Lucky Louie plug around that was bigger than 5 1/2 inches. Has anyone fished the 6 & 7 inch Louie plugs.

Greeny, bluish, pinky pearly tones. Works great as a classic or tubby, but slaughters as an RVP2-715ii

Would that work in Moutcha Bay/Nootka???

These are a great representation of a shovel style wood plug. Fishinator makes these ones.

The plugs are beautiful.

I here that the 6 inch glass eye “CHINOOK” was the go 2 plug before the plastic shovel...

I like to fish the plastic Stubby Louie’s. With the action and speed I am able to troll a naked chovie on one side and stubby on the other.

Like most I would like to try out the Tyee Pool. A few shovels here that I would like 2 try. Apparently the pink pearl is very popular.

When it comes down to fishing wood plugs, I have had the most success with the Wallace Highliner plug. I have modified the plug by cutting of the back hook hanger and attaching the double trebles to the front.The Wallace plug has a head similar to the Louie Shovel.

These for sure were developed and fished primarily in freshwater many, many years ago. I am going to refurbish them all and repaint them and give 'em a pull in the saltwater on shallow structure. Should be fun.

Sounds like a natural for the kelp bed at Bachelor Rock!!

Well my first impression I think the paint jobs look good,not a fan of sticker eyes and sticker scales though. I guess I am still old school.Apparently you have to fine tune theses rigs by adjusting the hardware straight out of the package to get action.

S.T what are your thoughts on screw in style eyelets for hook hanging and attaching the mainline. Kinda looks like a Lyman version with the screw in hardware that can work its way loose over time.
