Any one have a figures as to what percentage of all salmon caught are sport caught? I have heard figures of 4% when considering commercial and native netting, but don't know the accuracy of that.
The Albernie fishery is very different from most due to its constrained nature and receational importance.
Overall in B.C., the recreational catch is about 12%, FN 8% and the rest commercial. I can't lay my hands on any corroborating evidence to this at the moment so but thats what I recall.
I guess I question the FN 8%, when you compare barbless hooks to salmon zigzagging a maze of river nets. But even if that is trues, that leaves 80% we have no control over.
