Hey first post but I thought this may be of interest to others. I have a 20' aluminum with a inboard and a 9.9 kicker. The kicker was driven by a simple panther steering with a two button remote. The panther was basically a wiper moter steering the kicker. It worked but I had to manually operate. I was looking for something cheaper then a garmin system. I found this sail boat system that can follow a compass course with easy adjustments while fishing. Throttle controls remain separate, and outside of making my own bracket to mount it seemed very simple to make fit in my boat. I wanted to have controller removeable so for the time being have mounted it on a fish holder. I imagine you could make it work on any kicker. Price was around $1000 in 2022 Here are the pictures...
I tried it for thr first time today and am pretty happy with the system
