Peetz Reels - Capacity and line setup

Hello All,

Looking at putting a couple Peetz reels I picked up into service. Any idea on spool capacity for the 5" and 6" reels (assume uniform 30 or 40lb mono even though is a bad idea) What are you guys running?

I was planning on backing (50-100 yards) then 80lb suffix 832 braid mainline (how much can I accommodate) then a short mono end (maybe 30-50' maxima 40lb ultragreen). I'd replace the mono end fairly regularly and hopefully get multiple seasons from the braid and backing. Trying to figure out how much suffix I should plan on putting on...

I've only ever used the standard GT's before; really excited to catch a fish on the 'original'.

Cheers,

Colin

slader99: I have a 6" Peetz that I have been using to store braid I have removed from my halibut reels (either worn or converting to lower test). I think I have approximately 600 yd. of 80 lb. and 300 yd. of 100 lb. PowerPro on the reel (pretty full now). This reel may also have a little 80 lb. Dacron backing on it as well.

Plan on putting on a fair bit of Dacron backing first before your 300 yd. spool of braid (65 or 80 lb. suffix or equivalent).

The 5" reel has a lot lower line capacity but not sure how much. I'm sure there will be quite a few people with experience using the 5" who can help.

Spooled up a 6" Peetz for hali a little while back.It took 150 yds. of 50 lb. dacron backing and 300 yards of 80 lb
Tuffline to decently fill the spool.Having said that,it would have probably taken another 100 yds of braid to totally fill it.
My 5" has about 100 yds of dacron and 300 yds of 30 lb. mono on it to fill it nicely.Hope this gives you an idea.

Hello.

I need to reline several of my 5" Peetz reels.
Does anyone know the capacity?
I run 80 pound braid.

I haven't relined for several years so have forgotten how much line was required.

Thanks in advance.

SO....I did the smart thing and just called Peetz ;-)

500' on the 5" wood classic and 600' on the 5" stainless
