Hi all,
I recently refinished a peetz reel and had the new one way drag installed. I spooled it with 250 feet of 40 lb power po and topped it off with 25lb Maxima line. I was really happy with the tension setting. A slight turn of the knob and it was all done no line creep and a nice modest tension for the reel. I have used the reel four or five times and caught a couple of shakers, nothing more than a couple of pounds. I was out last Saturday and picked up a grey cod. It was big for a grey cod maby three pounds, but nothing really to test the reel. as I was winding it in, the reel all of a sudden became very hard to wind. when I had dealt with the fish I took the reel apart to discover the brass back plate on the reel had warped.
Does anyone have any idea why this might have happened?
I'd like to try to fix the reel, but I dont want this to happen again
