We will be fishing at Pedder Bay for the last two weeks of June and they don't have any freezer space. Most of the other resorts we have fished out of do have freezer space so we just use a cooler to transport as Our rig does not have any freezer space for fish. Does anybody know where we could get the fish frozen and stored until the end of the trip? Would prefer something close. Any information would be appreciated

I don't know if Pedder bay Marine has a freezer. I suggest you that take your fish to Island Outfitters. They have a huge freezer.

Just so you are aware ,you can only have a 2 day limit fresh or frozen in possession.
therefore until you get home you can have 4 springs , 2 halibut and 8 crab per person.

Should be able to keep other salmon species as well. ie. 4 hatch coho for the two day bag. That could take up some freezer space if it's 4 guys. Bring your bbg and eat some fresh too patrhynes!

As per the DFO website, the daily limit is 4 salmon total, with limits such as 2 springs per day still applying.

The way I read it, with a 2 day possession limit you would be able to keep 4 springs, 4 other salmon (likely hatchery coho), 2 halibut, and 8 crabs per tidal license holder.

This applies to both Area 19 (Sidney/Victoria) and Area 20 (Sooke/Renfrew).

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I've always read it to be a total possession of four per day, only two of which can be Springs (or whatever the additional restrictions are on specified species), two day total of eight fish all species. I'm sure the guides on here can clarify. I think youre right!

Keep in mind, there won't be pinks this year, hatchery coho will likely be shaker size
at that time of year.
There is some optimism that we my get a sockeye retention fishery which would
help round out the salmon limit.

Possession daily limit is 4 salmon total per day no matter what species you are catching

Species daily day catch limit is different. It changes from area to area. Useing the chart above you can harvest 2 chinook only per day and to hatchery coho. Or you could catch 4 pinks, or 4 chum. Or 1 chinook, 1 coho, 1 pink, 1 chum a day.

Any combination you use you can't exceed 4 salmon per day. A total of 8 salmon going home. You can not be in possession of more then 8 salmon a 2 day possession limit when traveling.

If there are cohos around like last year they will be keeper size they only need to be 12 inches to keep. I think they will be mostly 4-6 pounds in June with a few bigger. Great eaters.

But wait... What does a thread about freezer space have to do with daily limits?

That's like a guy asking about a place to stay in Nootka and instead of answering the question guys chime in

You know the speed limit on the highway is 90km/h
You must come to a COMPLETE stop at all stop signs
Be sure to accelerate to highway speeds on the merge lanes...

Lets assume everyone knows how to check the regs unless they state or ask otherwise.

Finally to answer your question I know of no freezer space aside from island outfitters in town. Hopefully somebody or business not too far away can help. Maybe pedder would let you keep a bit in their bait freezer? A fish camp should have freezer space.

Are you staying at the RV park at Pedder? Do you have enough room in your RV or boat for a small freezer. London Drugs has a 3.6 cu ft Danby freezer on sale right now for $149.00. I have one. They are light enough to lift in and out of your boat or RV and plug in at your campsite.

campground close to the marina should have giant freezers for customers or else, fish will rot quickly within days. While walking on the local campground once in a while, I have had fishermen as tourists asking me if I have freezer. I have heard that quite often.

This is the way to go. Have done this a few times on our big fishing trips. We just put the freezer in the back of the truck and leave it there. For $150 that's a deal, you pay more for a big cooler.
