hello Gents

Thinking of running the boat from Comox (or any other suitable launch location) and running across to Desolation Sound this year.

Can anyone give me the scoop on a safe spot to leave a truck and trailer on Van Is. that would be the shortest run to Powell River/Lund/Desolation Sound?

I was thinking Comox but open to suggestions

Thanks!

We always used pacific playgrounds and had no issues, great location. Not sure its the best option though?

Pacific playgrounds, I've never had an issue parking there.

I've used Pacific Playgrounds too. It's the shortest distance across. But you have to watch your tides going in and out, at low tide you cant get most boats in or out of the marina. I think they charged $10 day parking

Pacific playgrounds is $10 to launch. Park just outside the gate and it's free to park. Stick to a 6 foot tide and your good. You can go on lower but can get sketchy!

I drove to Comox from Victoria and launched at Comox Municipal Marina. It cost 12.50 to launch and 2.50 a night to leave your truck and trailer overnight. You must prepay at the launch and the machine takes credit cards, you just got to figure how long you will be away. Launching at low tide was a little tricky as I was alone and there is not much dock at low tide to tie up to. If you are to launch there and have a large boat I would recommend checking the tides first.
