on water emergencey

It could be two things that I know of both things have been talked about bit here I have had both problems first if it isn't shooting water out properply just take off the hose wear it goes through the motor and if it has a proper stream then you know the rubber piece that goes trough your motor is cloged I used tooth pics wile in the water or a small piece of tie wire. The second problem is it could be your oil sendor could be going on you my there is another option which I had try it first. I had lots of oil in the resavour but the alarm was still going off what happen was in the bottom of your resavor there is a little screen and it got clogged with just a thim slim of oil of differnt qualty it was both the same grades of oil differnt brands soon as I put in the sierra brand of oil it happen to me. I would recommened you dump out your and clean the screen in the bottom if not try this web sit http://www.marineengine.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi lot information let me know how you make out

I had a similar problem with my Yamaha, intermitent alarm after running for long periods, I eventually changed the thermostat which was the culprit. $30 easy fix, well worth the piece of mind.

Take it in and get it checked out. Alarms should not be ignored.
Saying that... I had an older Johnson on my last boat that would buzz now and then. Had it checked at SG and they said they are known to malfunction when they get older. He disconnected it and sent me on my way. Hopefully your son has a kicker just in case.

Tips

Same thing with my friend"s boat.He replaced the alarm module and didn't hear the alarm again. His is a Merc but I imagine that it's probably the same with most manufacturers.
