Okanagan sockeye

Isn't there a size limit on Kokanee to prevent this? 35 cm I think.

Daily Limit: 5 kokanee per angler, per day.
No Stream Fishing: The 5 fish limit only applies to kokanee caught in the lake, not in streams.
No Minimum Size: There is no minimum size limit for kokanee caught in Okanagan Lake.

It's just Skaha then. People would pull socks out of Skaha despite them being closed, and 'innocently' claim they thought they were big kokanee. So a maximum size limit was put in place for kokanee to remove this out. Might only be during sockeye run period.

July 10th to Oct 31 on Skaha, none over 35 cm. July 1st to Oct 31 on Osoyoos, none over 30 cm. (also Osoyoos is "barbless" hook July 1st to Oct 31.)
No idea why the 5 cm. difference?? :)

Eyeball comparison of the area under the curves suggests this year's run is about a third of the ten year average.

About 10,000 have now crossed Wells Dam, just below the Okanagan confluence. A few precocious fish will be up into Canadian waters by now. The opening for Washington anglers on Brewster Pool started 4 days ago, four fish per licence per day.
