Oh my pod. Abandoned 24 Zeta command bridge.

That’ll be fun! Will you launch this summer? Absolutely not! But who cares working on it is most of the fun anyway.
Ive been at it for a couple off seasons now and it has been a really fun project. The image above was how I found it, full of water and bees, a craked windshield. I had zero experience going in and learned a tremendous amount. I will post some somewhat "finished" pictures in the near future. If theres an apetite for it, maybe ill go deep and share all the steps it took. That may trigger me though, If i have to relive it 😅 .

jeez. i have enough work to do on a brand new boat. cant imagine old ones.
takes me 1.5 years on a brand new from the factory boat. probably 20 years on an old one. lol.

Oh man, and here I thought I was going to enjoy a build thread. Congrats! Let’s see some pics! You can’t tease us like that!!!

I have the occasional coulda/woulda/shoulda moment over the Zeta 19 I missed out on a couple years ago. Great hulls. Please put some pictures up of the journey with your 24.

My first boat was a 19 Zeta. I loved it so much I wanted the same thing but bigger. I got this 24 command bridge before I had sold my 19. I regret selling since not having a boat in the water the last few years. I took my 19 into some rough seas, rarely ever saw a drop of water on the windshield. Ill throw some photos up of that too, I had it looking pretty good.

Here is a quick photo dump of my 19 Fisheye.
It had an inboard chev 350 and volvo 280 leg.
The previous owner did an exellent job rebuilding it before I bought it. New floor and rebuilt the engine, new wiring batteries etc. I just slapped some paint on it, new canvas and fish finder. I really loved this thing!

If you don’t mind sharing, I would love to know what paint/process you used on the hull. That is a pending project for me.

Great access to the engine there, very thoughtful to make the floor cutout that big.

On that boat It was my first go. I used the Interlux topside paint, Its 1 part. I had a friend spray it for me. I did not prime it properly, i just patched, sanded and sprayed. Was quite forgiving and easy to apply. It was more of a quick DIY get er done job and it looked really good. It was by no means professional and its not the most durable. It looked great from a jet.

On my 24 I did a much better job. I have better before, during and after pictures of that process. I rolled and tipped with awl grip and it came up great. way more expensive, way longer process but way better paint job.

This is what it looked like day 1, it was in complete original condition. The interior was in suprisingly good shape. It was under a cover but water evidently was getting in. there was a foot of water in the bottom of the boat. The engine was actually in really good shape and it came with the leg and everything. I had plans to pod it immedietly so literally everything got ripped out. Was the all green astroturf interior a factory option? Every square inch of the inside was covered in it lol.

Then came time to figure out what was rotten. I basically went into demolition mode. Anything that could be unscrewed or unplugged got ripped out. The interior was removed but it was in good shape. will show that later. all the green carpet got tossed with enthusiasm.

Engine mounts were soaked, transom was soaked, side stringers were 50% , towards the rear they were bad but further up they were decent. middle stringer and cockpit floor were still rock solid which was such a relief. The first month or so was pure destruction.
