Off to the states to pick up my next project boat

Catching the duke point ferry at 5:15 am and heading to seattle to pick up the next project boat.Plan on being back sunday sometime,will post pics when I get back

After13~14 hours of driving,we made it back to the border at 12:30am.Didn't even go outside to look at the boat. They checked out the papers,filled out a form,payed the tax and I was sent on my way.Sitting at the ferry terminal since 1:30am thinking there was a 5:15am boat,just found out it doesnt leave till after 10.Can't wait to get home to my bed

Quick question: Did you give Canada Customs prior notification before you showed at the border with the boat?

The reason I'm asking is to find out if it's the same deal with buying a boat as it is with buying an RV where they want you to send notification in advance of your arrival at the border.

I didn't give notification to the customs just showed up but make sure you got all your right paper work riv for the trailer and titles

nope, I sent them a email asking if I had to give them a time when I was showing up and the answer was no

No prior notice required, I just went inside (CBS) and gave them all the documentation and 10 minutes later they called me to the counter and I paid the taxes and then went to Riv and gave them the necessary forms and paid the Riv fee and was on my way home. Neither Customs or Riv looked at the boat it took less than 20 minutes. This was at the Truck Crossing.

Advance notification is only required when you are exporting a vehicle (car, truck, rv) from the U.S., and then you only have to give the notice to U.S. Customs, not Canadian.
The 3 working days is to give them time to check the vehicle identification number (VIN) againt the stolen vehicle registries to make sure your hot deal is not "hot".

If you're doing a vehicle, watch your timing - when I brought my truck up the only guy who could approve the export only worked Monday-Friday, 8-4:30. Miss him and it's come back the next day.
At least that was the case 4 years ago, may have changed - always phone them ahead of time and get the current procedure.

The Sea Ray should be a good strong boat, Congrats, and before and after pic's are always nice to see.

if it has wheels or tracks and is self propelled it has the 72 hour rule. 72 hours is there 72, that can vary with holidays/traffic. You can fax in your paperwork and it is an easy process, have done it lots. RIV (riv.ca) required for trucks/cars trailers.

Here is a couple pics of the next "WET DREAMS" It's a searay srv 245,They only made this model with the flush floor in 1983. The motor is getting yanked and a outboard bracket will be getting installed in a couple weeks

SS the freeboard on the searay is the same as my trophy 29" It just doesn't look it from the picture and the price was right... $2500.00

Was checking on prices for radar arches,HOLY CRAP!!!!! anywhere from a $1000 -$2500. Thought I would try to build my own, $270 for the aluminum,3 hours of cutting and fitting and a case of beer for a friend of mine to tig it up. Totall into it so far is about $300, not bad so far
