North End QCI / Langara fishing and anchorage

I'm heading up to the charlotte's next week and we be spending a few days on my boat exploring the north side from Masset to Langara. I'll be sleeping on the boat but wanted to see if anyone has done a similar trip and can recommend places to rest up/shower/eat on land. Masset has plenty of options but what about further west? Is it pretty much just the major lodges as you head west towards Langara? Any great anchorages along the way? I hear the fishing has been great up there this past week so we'll be mooching all around langara island. Any tips of cool spots to check out along the way would be appreciated.

Lodges don't sell showers or gas-there was nothing two years ago when I was last there.

Wind direction will dictate where you'll be anchoring for the night all kinds of choice along the north shore of Graham.

If it starts blowing N/NW you'll end up on the lee side of Langara-decent ground for holding but shallow.

FWIW-hauling all the way to Langara doesn't guarantee better fishing but the Lighthouse is where the big Halis lurk-when you can get out there.

There are basically only lodges west of Masset, that I know of.
The lodges buy their food from the stores here in town, so I would guess there is not much between here and there.
There isn't a gas bar at the marina here either.
There are a couple of good anchorages that I can see on the map, Never used any of them yet.
The Masset inlet does run at about 8 knots when in the tide is running, so anchoring could be fun.
I usually just fish 7 mile (Waih Point) to Cape Edensaw.
It's blowing NW today, and the waters have started to chop up pretty good.

I would recommend calling in advance before you make your way to Langara. They may be willing to sell you fuel if you need it. There are no services. Any services or hospitality they provide will be on good will only. Contact the West Coast Fishing Club or Langara Fishing Adventures before heading that direction. There are many good places to anchor but no public moorage "per se". However, in NW gales, Langara is NO fun coming or going. If it's a screaming SE'er...be prepared to wait it out for a day or more.

Without knowing your boat, be prepared to stay a while. Also, keep in mind, there is no one to "save your bacon" unless they happen to be there when trouble goes wrong. There is no "search and rescue", medical attention, mechanic or services 5 minutes away.

Personally, I think you'll have a blast around the Peregrine and QCL fleet and East of Green Point. IMO, running to Langara will be unnecessary from a fishing standpoint.

You'll be on "catch and release" in the first half hour!

Enjoy!

Thx for the info. We're gonna check weather and possibly make the Hecate crossing in the next couple days. Should be a hell of an experience for a 1st timer up that way. I'll be sure to post my findings when the trip is done.

coolio trip, definately keep us posted,,, pics or didnt happen

Hi,

When are you heading? I am flying from Vancouver to Masset on Wed and would love to take that trip. If you would like a hand? I have done PCOC and Power Squardons.
