Might be heading up to Critter cove second week of August. Is there a salmon forecast for 2017. Also is mid August a bit late?
And should I expect fog
And is my trailer and truck safe at gold river launch. Is there a locked compound. Trailer is worth more than the boat.

Better to go to Tahsis.
Equidistant to Esperanza and Nootka Sounds.

Check the search feature and the nootka reports page. I'd stay in tahsis this way you can experience both nootka and esperenza.

They do not lock the parking area but I have left my rig there for up to 2 weeks at a time and never had a problem.
The band runs it and they are great.
Mid August should be fine depending on how heavy the seiners hit it.
There will be lots of fish inside and Critter is right on the fishing grounds.
Short runs, easy on fuel.
One hour run from Gold river to Critter.

Same old ramp at GR, but new docks. They're great!! Able to use both sides of the ramp now.

Comes and go's!! LOL Not too bad-depends on the year- but--it does happen!

I think Fog is worse on the outside often starting around Lighthouse. On the inside it happens but with less frequency. I'd guess 20 % of days have fog in August but sometimes you can see it coming and go in another direction. There are lots of options in Nootka to get out of weather. As others said. Parking at the ramp is excellent. I always park inside and have never had an issue.

have seen very little fog inside. Have been caught in it a couple times but for us it's been rare on the inside. definitely more common on the outside after the lighthouse as pescador mentioned...
