Nootka Sound Lodging / mooring

Hey Everyone - We are looking to do a few trips this year into the Nootka Sound area. We have a 30' boat, so it seems best to launch in Gold River and head out @ hi tide... It looks like there are only a couple of places to moor at night in Nootka though? There will be 4 of us on our boat, so looking for somewhere to cook and sleep. What is available out there besides Moutcha Bay Resort and Critter Cove?

I would stay a Critter, they have everything you need (fuel, grub, tackle bait),and closer to the fishing than Moutcha Bay.

How about the water based version of Moutcha Bay? Nootka Sound Resort is a convenient location and appear to be a really good group (+ generous in donating an all-inclusive for our derby which could sway my opinion too!)

They are right across from Critter.

I thought I'd take a look at that website in case I wanted to go, they are advertising access to bought quota too.

Yes, and like Rodgers, they have bought Halibut quota under the experimental program.

Stay at Critter Cove. Fuel is cheap, food is awesome, and the staff are amazing.

They have always gone out if their way to help us out every year.

ah heck...never saw that in all my past browsing - finally found it buried in there. Is a shame. Kind of curious having a talk to them about that although we have only been in contact with their promotions side of things.

Critter cove the best bring your own boat lodge I have stayed at. Has any and everything a guy could want. My only compliant was the resturant closed a little early for dinner haha

Moutcha Bays 2 lodges have bought quota as well.

You have Flynn's Cove and I happen to know where there are a couple of private cabins in Esperanza Inlet

I know this thread has been inactive for almost a year but..... Past 4 years Critter has been home to me a couple of times each summer...but this year would like to head out late May/june for some bottomfish and Critter doesnt open until the beginning of July. Where to moor? Looking for a setup simular to Critter.......

Slide up to Westview marina in Tahsis-they open early and there is good bottom fish and fuel etc. etc, Try their website

Just a quick thought here -send Fish on John a pm and he could give you details of where to go. I know mileage -wise at that time of year if you need facilities and services, he's a good option

Try, Tuta marina bring some camping gear they have everything you need and hot showers, if you need some spots Larry is always willing to lend a hand and knowledge. fuel is just around the corner.
Hali is half an hr run and salmon are close too inside or out.
