Nootka fishing in July.

Just wondering about Nootka fishing in the first week of July. I have a free stay at critter cove from the 6-9th and am wondering how the fishing has been over the past couple of years. Anything on the inside at that time? Or should I concentrate my time offshore?

Holmes? IFL?

I fished there The Canada day long weekend we had a great time, couple at the monument and lots at beeno creek, all around 18 pounds it was very cool

The past 3 years I have found that to be a smokin good time to be there! There has been lots of big early chinook destined for the Columbia going by close, so all the top spots out front, I would bet will be the same this year. ( Maquina, wash, lighthouse) shouldnt need to go any where else unless you want your Halis. Commercials shouldnt have the prawns too shyte kicked by then either. Plus the big PLUS, the size slot restrictions wont be in effect yet, and you can keep your limit of overs on the rocks.

I was there on the 14th last year and there was no need to go outside...however, if they aren't in yet the monument, lighthouse, wash, bajo, beano and everything else "out front" should all be producing in some form and if not, head out to 300 feet of water.

I'll be at Critter 10 days after you King_Cod and look forward to your report!

Xavier, I'll be up there from the 18th - 23rd. Depending on conditions, we will make at least one trip out to the highway and some hali / ling / yellow eye grounds in between if you are interested in buddyn' up for a run. PM me if so. Come on July, get here already!!

Agreed. That time of year is usually really hot, the added bonus being that you will be allowed to fish the rocks. The lighthouse is prob. my favorite that time of year. THis year the full moon is on the 3rd, hopefully 6 to 9th will be far enough away from it. See you out there bro!

You bet Shepnoir, I'll send you a pm in the near future. There are two other boats in our party both about 18'. We are in a 22' Striper and would certainly be interested in buddying up for a trip to the highway - if not necessary, we'll hook up for a couple pops. We are there nights of jul 20, 21, 22.
