No Bananas?

never believed it myself until last year...had my boss out at Swale rock. In a 25 min period just before the tide change we went through both my canon balls and the 2 spares I had on board...along with 4 snubbers, 6 release clips etc etc.
On the way in to Bamfield to buy more gear I look over and he's blisfully munching on an over-ripe banana...turns out he's got about 6 of them in his lunch bag. Over the side those f--kers went...hasn't been a banana on my boat since.
Truth of it is every bit of that gear was lost due to opperator error...but a guys gotta have something to blame it on!

Was out at northarm and the Bellbuoy yesterday am and couldnt get a hit for the first two hours.
Boats all around us were hooking up with pinks and socs.
Finally asked if there were any bananas on board.
My pals thought I was nutz.
Three bananas were deep sixed and we slowly started getting some action.
In future I will ask before anyone boards with their boxlunch.

Aw c'mon........ you guys are all kidding, right? LOL!

You are just looking for excuses coming up with those ones. Maybe you threw those bananas overboard just before a tide change? I would think that and water temperature and colour mean more than fruit on a boat? I eat both everyday and enjoy them very much. Doesn't seem to affect the fishing from what i can see.

Personally, I think bananas are gross and I'm happy to throw them over. YUCK!

But, one of my good fishing buddies got the bigest fish of his career so far right after swallowing that disgusting yellow mush. 37lbs of hard fighting spring. I think he got it in spite of banana, not because of it.

Some time back in the early '90's when I was guiding out of Vancovuer, a good friend and his wife had brought some bnnanas out on a trip with us.

I didn't know about it at the time. We had fished from first light until about Noon or so without so much as a bite. About then my friend's wife pulls a banana out to snack on. I was horrified, and let her know about it. She brushed it off like it was no big deal and continued to eat the banana. When she had finished downing it, she tossed the peel overboard. It drifted back and caught in the downrigger cable. As soon as it did the rod attached to that rigger went nuts with our first fish of the day - about 22 lbs as I recall. And the first of several fish. Inspite of the slow start, we finished with a decent catch.

Yah I learned the hard way a few years back on the Bananas boat, I think it was the only day ever for him with no fish in the boat,so then I appear with the chimp grub in my nap!! Needless to say the yellow **** is overboard and I'm keeping my distance from the skipper!

So this season I'm on my boat at Renfrew with my son's buddy, slow morning until he comes out of the cutty with a frakin banana in his yap! Crap he had a school of em in a bag, which we quickly tossed... and then caught some fish. So for sure,no bananas.... ever on my boat.

All BS, bogus excuses! Get on the fish, fish are both stupid and easy to catch. Find them and you will knock them. Don't fall for the boogeyman BS. Keep it all simple.

DHA.
