Newbie- Late Aug Early Sept Trip

Hey guys,

Pretty much brand new to salmon fishing here. I've pitched from the beach several times off Whidbey Island and from a boat a couple times back when I was younger but I'm basically a newbie.

I have some time off coming up- last 5 days in August and the first week of September. This will be the last trip of my nomadic summer. I'm wanting to make a trip to the island and enjoy some camping and fishing. I've never been to the Island but I've lived in BC my whole life (25 years)... sad, I know. I'll ask a couple questions and I hope that I'm not of a nuisance asking for info- I know that a lot of people come on forums asking for the BEST spots to fish etc and the BEST gear to use. I don't care about the best.

I don't have an itinerary in place yet as I'm trying to get a feel for what locations I should target during my trip. As of right now I'm able to go wherever, but would prefer to stick to the southern half of the Island as I'm from the Interior- Kamloops.

Are there any places I would have luck fishing from a beach? Should I instead be targeting rivers?

I honestly have no idea where to start with the planning of this journey but hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your patience.. I know this post isn't too informative as to what exactly it is I'm looking for.
