New to Vancouver and saltwater fishing

Hi there, I moved to Vancouver recently and am interested in salmon fishing from shore. I often see fishermen casting between the Ambleside dog beach and the Capilano river on the north shore, not too far from Lionsgate bridge. Two questions: 1. Is that a decent place to fish for salmon from shore or are there better options? 2. The Burrard Inlet water doesn’t look very appealing- any health or taste concerns from the fish caught there? Many thanks for any guidance you can provide. Gil

It’s pretty much the only spot you’ll have a chance at catching one from shore. The fish don’t live in the harbour, so no issues with contamination.

Sign yourself up for the pacific angler fishing reports. They do a piece on mouth of the Capilano beach fishing and also report on the major river systems available in the fall.
