Subject: FN0697-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Region 2 - Capilano River - Notification of Metro Vancouver weir opening & request for no fishing on July 21, 2023
Capilano Hatchery staff are working with Metro Vancouver and Squamish Nation to get a pulse of water and a weir opening on the Capilano River starting late Thursday, July 20, 2023. This is the result of low water levels and low returns of fish to date into the hatchery. This emergency action is intended to allow for clear passage of fish through the river, and the Department is requesting all fishers to refrain from fishing in the Capilano River on Friday July 21.
