New to fishing don’t have lots of lures and stuff

So I’m pretty new to fishing just bought my first rod it’s a ugly stick with a bait caster for 99.99$ for my location it’s working good I mainly go to dragon lake in Quesnel bc heard it was “world class fishing” so I mainly go their but me and my buddy are going to meckenzi for a fishing derby and they have lake trout and I heard they are way bigger than rainbow I was just wondering what type of lures and trolling lures and even line should I use I know I need a better fishing rod already but was hoping y’all good give me some info on lake trout what type of lures are good for casting and trolling what kind of trolling lures I should look for and what kind of line I need any info helps thanks a lot y’all

Jig for them with large tube jigs, white and chartreuse are best colors. For trolling i like to use large flatfish and spoons
