New Spartan boats at basspro

Looks nice ( that means I cant afford it ) The only thing that jumps out in the build, is how far out the downrigger mounts stick out. Looks like a long reach.

They had a 20' softtop model in the parking lot with a price tag of $59,000. I think that came with a Merc 150HP (might have been 115HP). That seems pretty reasonable to me. I know that Bass Pro sells their Mercs for cheap compared to all the other dealers because they buy so many of them nation wide. Maybe they can sell these boats for cheaper than everyone else too.

The 220 Maximus caught my eye so I'm curious on pricing. Although I wish it was a closed cabin instead of the soft back drop.

Sorry but a bit off topic.

How is Bass Pro out there for west coast fishing gear and tackle. They are horrible out here in Calgary and Cabellas in Edmonton. Since we lost Wholesale Sports we really have no place to get decent tackle especially. We have to order on line or wait till we get out there.

They have what you need but there are better shops around.

Talked to Bass Pro, they are made by Thunder Jet .

Figured as much. Looking at the Maximus 220, it looks very similar to the offshore/chinook hull.

It is more of an economy/base type of boat? Or is it rebranded just for basspro shops??

Looks like an economy version, but the Maximus 220 has a wider beam, taller sides, same thicknesses of aluminum. I think just less finishing touches perhaps? The yard at BassPro looked like it had one of the 220's in stock but it was covered in shrink wrap. I'll try to swing by to check it out next time I am out that way or perhaps they will be at the Boat Show.

IMO they have a **** poor selection, So much so I made an effort to talk to some workers about it.

Apparently it's been a slow battle with management to bring in what us west coasters want.

Its been about a year since I have been in the Delta bass pro.

The Tsawwassen store has as mentioned everything you need but not the best selection.

Having been in the tackle business I like to stop in whenever I can and check out how they do things because you never know-I picked up a couple Lamiglass fiberglass downrigger rods with pistol grips that I'd never seen in any other store and the price was right.

They have a poor selection for our type of fishing out here in Alberta as well. They can't get it through their head there's no Bass in Alberta, we are Walleye and Pike fisherman. Isles and isles of bass hooks, not a lot of decent Walleye gear. It's getting better but man, talk about slow learners. My local CT far surpasses them for Walleye gear.

I have no way to prove this, But bass pro being a huge company is probably demanding fairly cheep prices from west coast suppliers. In turn to then undercut all the local shops our west coast supplier's have agreements with.

I can only speculate that there is probably a bunch of internal sale agreements and pissing matches.
