New Scotty DR Locker.

From years of experience doing insurance claims, I learned that the VAST majority of theft can be eliminated by simply making your toy harder to steal - in other words make it more work to steal. Thieves will almost always move on to someone else's easier to steal toy.
My solution is to replace the Scotty bolts that can be removed by hand with regular hex bolts. Now they need a tool to steal my stuff. There is always a boat beside me with the finger bolts!
For extra security, some people use allen head bolts - very nice!

good idea!
I usually take mine down and lock them in the cabin when I'm not on the water, but this seems like a fairly good idea for folks that have them mounted on their boat while it's unattended.

Wonder if they make a pin-in security head bolt the correct size? What size are the Scotty mounting bolts?

For piece of mind, if kept on the boat I store mine out of site, locked away in the bow. Obviously someone can cut the lock on the bow storage, but I don't know why you'd leave them in plain view on the gunnels. Same with the chart plotter.

I have also herd of thieves cutting right thru the swivel with a reciprocating saw.., id like to put my swivels on and use stainless allen head bolts like Fish Assassin has on his boat... its a pain in the butt taking the swivels off everytime and I cant stand them scotty thumb bolts..
