Anyone used the new Islander MR3? Just wondering what u think of it compared to the MR2.

I just checked out the Sage MR3 prices at Berry Bait.com - man they are some expensive salmon rods.

Look to be very nice rods just the same.

Got two of the new Islander MR3 REELS on order chrome dome.
Gonna put them through their paces right alongside a couple of the MR2's.
Letcha know as it goes, but suspect these new ones are going to be SWEET! (For one thing, they can be switched to left hand retrieve, my personal preference).

Cheers,
Nog

Just got mine yesterday...gonna give'er a workout Friday morning.

Never did like the MR2, when a feisty fish turns turns & runs at the boat you're in trouble 'cause the line retrieve is so slow with a small spindle.

MR3 spindle will give way better line retriaval speed...Mine is to be fitted with a counterbalancer for one handle operation...Slick.

I stopped by the Islander Factory on Kirkpatrick and the guy there said the MR3 is actually lighter than a MR2....you'll love the way the drag system & knob is designed, so easy to adjust in the heat of battle.

Remember, "When the Fish aren't Biting...the Fish aren't Biting!!"

So anyone else tried one yet???

MR3's are lighter, and it's true..there is a higher retreival speed. I used MR2's and sold them for just 5% less than what I paid for them after 2 seasons of use at Langara and 1 season locally.
