New Kid In Town

Yesterday's walk showed him to be a lot of Sheppy. Rather than what the majority of our Hybrids do in straining at the leash (Husky influence) he walked slack leash, at HEEL position the entire time without coaching. Amazing.

I had meetings to attend today, so put him in the kennel for the first time. Don't know how long it took, but Ila sprung him free. Had a couple hours I'd guess free in the house with her. No messes whatsoever. Stayed out of the garbage and green bins. A Wowser for sure!

Cheers

Thinking I'd better get him his own hunting license & deer tags too!!
Ya I tried with my Lab when I lived at the coast, so I could double my Duck and goose limit. Got a good laugh from the C/O that I Asked

All tuckered out after their walk and a hard romp...

Front Incisors all switched over to Adult teeth now.
3 Canines have done the same, with the last about to pop out.

Molars and carnassial shears next...

Thankfully he is keeping the chewing directed on toys only!!

Cheers

Not sure how I missed this thread. Congrats on the new family member. I'll take dogs over humans any day.

I've had three dogs pass on over the years. Two Mastiffs and a Timber Wolf/Malamute/Husky hybrid. Loba my hybrid was more Wolf than anything. Miss her a lot. Miss them all. They are best friends and family.

My new pup is 11 months old now. Nootka is a rescue mix. He's a special spirit that calms un easy energy. He's amazing. My best friend. Goes everywhere with me.

Took me years to get another after my last two Mastiffs past. Glad you didn't wait long. It's obvious you made the right decision. 👍

Thanks for that.
Yep, I absolutely KNOW this was the right decision for me, him and my entire household.
The grief was stifling, and while it still lingers in the background, he brought a lot of relief from that to all of us.

I've had dogs all of my life.
The numbers that have wandered on are near countless as I buzzard in on 70.
Each captured my heart, and each burned when they left.
But I recognize that goes with the territory.
It is entirely unlikely I will ever be without one, and when I pass, The Missuz has instructions to place Boogyman's ashes alongside me in the box.
The way things are going, Taniq may well be invited for the next show too.

Taniq will be 5 months in two days.
He will make 50 pounds at that point, and still growing.
And he has bonded so deep with me it is like we have been together forever.
Couldn't ask for more!

Good Luck with Nootka!
Sounds like you two are off to an excellent start!
Post a pix or two when you get the time...

Cheers

That's wonderful to hear. And yes I'll post some pics of Nootka too.
