"Island Salmon Fisherman," the sister book to the best-selling "Island Halibut Fisherman" was just launched this week. Authors Bob Jones and Larry Stefanyk have written two fabulous resources for all Vancouver Island sports fishers or any angler heading to the Island.

The books cover when to go, where to go (with GPS coordinates), and what to use, along with useful tips on how to fish that the authors have gleaned from the many top Island guides who contributed to the books.

The books are published by Harbour Publishing. :D

Double edged sword. Hey why don't we just take one step closer to cashing in on whats left of the resource by exploiting every last nook.[xx(]

i got that book 2 weeks ago at the store in hillside mall.
the coordanates arnt to fishing holes, it marked as a place to fish eg. albert head. sooke bluffs... an goes on,
for 25 bucks i wasnt that impressed.
ive got both tc reids books and they are the way to go if you want to learn salmon fishing
but hey this is just my opinion....;)

One could learn way more from reading on this site than dropping 25 bucks.
Then again its only money;)
cheers

Howdy,

FYI - boys'...

I have recently had the pleasure to come to know something about Bob Jones. Although I know nothing of his co-author on this book I can tell you that all of us fishermen - sport/commercial/native - owe Bob a debt of gratitude.

For the past 40 or so years of his life as an Award-winning outdoor writer he has championed the cause of sportfisherman across the country and been in countless battles with idiot self-serving, thoughtless, mayors, MLA's, Premiere's, Prime Minister's, DFO officials and bureaucrats.

It is because of people like Bob that we still have a few wild fish around to chase after.

I am both honored and proud to sit with him on the Advisory Committee of the Wild Salmon Alliance.

Cheers,
Terry Anderson

I have the Halibut book.

It is a good book with good information, but if you are looking for pin-point spots to fish with GPS coordinates, this is not your book.

As it was called the "Island..." book, would have thought it would have info specific to Vancouver Island and surrounding areas. It did not.

What it had was some very general info about each area and some GPS waypoints of places like Ferrer Point, Black Rock, etc. No "Halibut hole #23".

I will buy the Salmon book as soon as I come across it next time I'm in town, but I assume that it will be similar to the Halibut book in format and information.
