Tying up sum gear tonight ,
read the thread on standard hoochie tying the other day , i still tie all mine with tandem 4/0 gammy's , my preference ,
iv'e never really dragged needle fish around , sounds like winters will prefer this choice at times , over the next few months ,thinking shorter leaders with as little as possible drag,, = smaller hooks ??
what's ur thoughts
thx in advance
I'll add my 2 bits. I use a needle fish rig that is deadly off Ucluelet/Tofino/Barkley S. I use a Spatter Back green glow needle fish hootchie, bead, chain swivel, 4/0 siwash. On top of the hootchie I'll put a couple more beads and stack another spatter back above so as to lengthen the lure to the size of the local feed. 40 lb Maxima leader, a little longer than usual - keeps the rubber closer to the big hook. As stated earlier, it's much easier to release a fish with the single siwash which causes less trauma to the fish.
