Going fishing next week on cowichan lake and looking for some tips. I'm not an expert fisherman by any stretch so looking for advice on what lures to use, where to fish, and anything that will help. Cheers

I have never fished that lake but I have never met a trout that wouldn't eat a worm on a wedding band. Red and white spoons with trout attractant or a panther Martin. Clear lakes make sure you use the lightest line possible Fluorocarbon line helps but is not necessary by any means.

Five spot seem to know where to fish so I would roll with that.

Boat or shore fishing?
Do a search on here for Cowichan Lake, lots of good info has been put up in the past.

Make sure you check the regulations , if your lucky enough to catch one of the large cutties over 20" they need to be released. Worms or fly's at the creek mouths this time of year and if your trolling ,gang troll and worm or flatfish works for some . I used plugs (rapalla or tomics) lots of line and fast. Once the water warms fish will move deeper . Good luck, used to be some nice fish in that lake.
