Navionics HD

Ah... this reminds me of high school...Some guy would yell "'i' before 'e' except after 'c'" out the window of his IROC at me and my buddies and I would drag him out the window and beat him until he admitted there were exceptions. Looking back I think he just wanted attention though as at the time we were talking about if Chevy or Ford trucks were better...odd eh?

I think that's what I'm leaning toward High Five, just waiting for Navionics to get back to me on if it'll work on My Asus Ice cream sandwich tablet before I pull the trigger.
Good to know the regular version doesn't look gimpy on a tablet.

Well now I'm still unsure!

Based on the Navionics Nerds response the non-sd is a no-go on tablets, but they don't specifically mention my tablet, just Android tablets in general. However High Five's experience completely contradicts that. How old is your install High Five? I call BS on Navionics (of course they want you to buy the pricier one) but perhaps with the release of the HD they messed with the latest SD too so you have to by HD for tablets...Guess I better shell out for HD or risk spending $67 buying SD and then HD when the SD doesn't work. Boo! If I had an Android phone I'd consider trying SD first but I'm waiting for the contract for my damn Crackberry to expire.

Navionics response:

Tony,

Please be aware that the Navionics Mobile app for the Android Handsets and the Navionics Mobile HD apps for the Android Tablets are two seperate applications. The HD applictations have been optimized for use with the Android Tablets. The Mobile apps for the Android Handsets are not compatible with the Android Tablets, and vice versa.

If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

Navionics Mobile Team

Another response just received from Navionics:

Hi Tony,

No, the M&L: US & Canada (non HD) is specifically designed for handset (smartphones) devices. All devices with a screen smaller than 7 inches are to be considered as smartphones. HD Mobile apps will run and operate correctly exclusively on devices having a screen of 8 inches or larger.

Where there is not a demo version available, if there is any area(s) on the map you would like to preview, please provide coordinates of the area(s) and we will send you screenshots of that location, from the Navionics chart.

If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

Navionics Mobile Team

Cool thing with Google play store is..... you get time like 5 minutes or 1 hour to decide to keep the install. So basically a free test to determine if it works on your tablet.... if sizing or something is an issue then you can undo your transaction & scrap the install.
