I was outside porlier 2 weekends ago, one quick bite and that was it. No one else got anything while i was out except for a snapper. Prawning was good, 270 in 3 hours.

Where did u drop your prawn traps and how deep? sounds pretty good :)

To fish or not to fish,
What a stupid question!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will sit on a boat drinking beer for a life time :D

About 5 minutes down the outside shore of Galiano, out about 270-290' depth, used 2 traps on one line, and those pellets for bait.

TWO WEEKS AGO COUGHT TWO AND LOST THREE
AND LAST WEEKEND COUGHT 4 LOST TWO TO SEALS
ALL IN THE AM

Clyse is from that area. Not a bad fisherman. He'd be good for a seal report. Email Maybe?

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!.

I was out at Polier yesterday. Caught 54 nice sized prawns in one trap in an hour and a half. Went to check the other trap but couldn't find it. The tide must have pulled my float under. I marked it on my GPS but it wasn't at the surface. I just hope that it will still be there sunday on my next day off. My limit of crabs made for a nice dinner but an expensive one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I like it,
I love it,
I want some more of it!

Went out to neck point on Sunday, mainly to drop the prawn trap as the fishing around there has been sooooo poor. Tried to drowned a coyote and a plug for two hours with no luck. Lost my first cannon ball of the year with my very first snubber. Maybe it saved the mainline, I don't know, but I don't ususally lose a ball on the bottom. 50 prawns later I was done. Checked out Silver Blue's web site for Gabriola and area and he said neck point was productive lately. If I had known that I may have stayed longer!

Feeder, I don't use snubbers ever since one broke on me just after the ball stopped at the downrigger ...snap-splash! I don't trust them anymore: they could break at anytime for any reason IMO.

Nice prawns. I'ld like to revisit Silva Bay area to collect a few.

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

I used snubbers all last season guiding so they got used alot, and never had one break. I even snagged bottom once and the downrigger started letting out line before it snapped, so I think maybe your's got roughed up in the rocks a little or something. 3 other guides at the lodge use them too and they never had one break off like that either.
but one time, one of our guys snagged bottom while fishing on his own and it worked properly; broke off at the bottom of the snubber, so he was pretty happy about that.
