Went out yesterday evening for a couple of hours off the Fingers. One almost legal in the first few minutes then nothing but shakers and P Cod for the next while. Hooked into a hog off Neck Point that stripped line like a banshee then cut back and crossed the other line before it could be gotten out of the way. That was all she wrote, gone without ever gaining control. I would have liked to have seen it as it felt BIG but it goes that way sometime. we also managed to find the thickest patch of weed in the area at twilight which totally plugged the kicker, ending the evening.
Oh, I also hooked up a very old crab trap with no float, thin cord, and haywired together. It never fails to astound me that people will cheap out on line and floats, use no weights, and then be surprised when they lose their gear :( It was definitely an interesting and different kind of evening.

All depends on the wind.

I'm going out too, thrasher and maybe even over to van for some sox if it stays calm, it's nice out there right now. might see you out there.

got two 16s and a 21 at thrasher by 3 in an intense half hour and spent the rest of the night going for the limit but didn't get it. died right off. but they're there.

Yesterday morning the wind was way below forecast early so went over to Gabriola and boxed a couple of springs near Entrance before the wind turned on. Coyote 4 inch spoons doing the job. By noon it was blowing 14 knots, and by 3 p.m. it was 18 and better. Lots of grilse at every depth and every location, just non stop getting them off the lines.

Yesterday @ Entrance/Cannery it was fairly nasty (19 knots) early but did settle down later and we marked fish steady although no large schools. Boxed 4 with the largest being 28 pounds. 170 feet down with coyote spoons in 200+/- feet of water. A good day :D

caught a 25 pound spring out at thrasher this morning on a army truck hootchie at 120 feet. Nobody out there, wasnt even that rough. The fish was a white. Does any one no were these fish come from (fraser?)

It's my understanding that they are Harrison River stock but as noted they have used this stain in other rivers such as the Vedder.

The wind yesterday was better than forecast making for decent conditions. Tried my usual spots but came up empty. P-cod and grilse made for thin fare.:) Oh well, another day, another chance...
