MR3 drag problem

Having issues with my MR3 drag. The tighter I set the drag the harder it is to reel.
Reel is a couple years old now but alwase rinsed after every use and greased occasionally when the drag started to get sticky.
Maybe I'm missing a small part after taking it apart so many times last summer?
Have any of you guys had this problem before?

Cheers
Dave

If I am correct, the MR3 can be switched from right to left hand retrieve. Sounds like you have the retrieve reversed so that ease of reeling in is affected by the drag setting. Consult your owners manual.

No thats not it, its alwase been right and retrieve and worked flawless for 2 years, just at the end of last summer it started acting up on me.
Im thinking its the cork. Also i alwase backed the drag off after every use

I am pretty sure the bearing under your drag disc has gone bad. That bearing carries a lot of load when you have the drag tightened down...

yeah could be eh mike, ill get in touch with eliot from islander and see what he thinks.
no i havent yet pescador, Having a hard time finding graphite grease

Just had bearing replaced last week from Islander.. $24 bucks a bearing and $20 to install. The bearings were 10 years old and didn't look or sound to good.

...Having a hard time finding graphite grease

Super Lube should do the trick-Canadian Tire usually has it

Pull the spool off and then pull the drag plate off. Put your finger on the bearing and see if it easy to turn. If not the bearing is fubard.

Pacific Angler on Broadway in Vancouver sells graphite grease. $20 for a small container. Expensive, but, it is hard to find....

Any locksmith will have a tube of graphite-then just use it with the super lube-I should also add most key cutting places have it as well. Not expensive.

I have not really found a huge need for the graphite additive. I typically will just wet the cork with super lube and then wipe most of it off. I grease almost all the other moving parts.

X2......I grabbed a small squeeze tube for shooting in keyholes at Canadian Tire when I bought the Superlube. A little goes a long way and I found that once you have it worked into your cork well it really only requires oil during the year for normal use anyways......Athough treating the cork drag doesn't help much if the bearing won't turn? Lol
