neighbor had his boating partner capsize their shared boat late last month, i just heard the story. they did nothing to the suzike 50 that was totally submerged for about an hour. is this motor scrap right now or is there some hope that it could be put back into working order?? insurance totalled everything.

Month of sitting without repair? She is done! Could get it to run but there will be rust on the bearings and all electrics will be corroded, will not be reliable anymore.Leg should be good.

Salt water or fresh? If it was salt the motor is absolutely toast. As mentioned the bearing surfaces will be etched from rust and will fail eventually if you did get it running.
If it was fresh water there is a remote possibility it can be salvaged. But, it's been sitting for a month so the powerhead will need to be torn completely apart and any rusted or corroded bearings, pistons, crank journals will need to be repaired or replaced. Likely will need cylinders rebored or at least honed. That means new rings and possibly pistons anyways.
Unless you are going to do all the labour yourself it will cost more to repair than it would to replace.

Sell it on craigslist. The leg will probably be fine and would be worth something to someone. Also bound to be some parts that are still good on the powerhead.

as trendsetter mentioned the leg will be fine as it is a sealed unit. It is surprising what can be salvaged , but it will require a complete teardown and will probably be unreliable.
