yay, just secured my spot at sunny shores for the year.. i am new to the area, can anyone give me some feedback on this place . it looks nice, and it looks close to the fishing. so did i go wrong? wont be in for a week or two.. still finishing up the boat. any feedback would be great! thanks .

Good Spot,Follow someone out through harbour first time,or until your confident, plenty of guys will be more than happy to show you.DAN

Thats my home base ill be out there june 1 and we can chat then good to see you at SS.

Good luck Wolf

right on. ill have to go to trotac i guess, i dont think the accoutant will let me back in west after this weekends damage..lol.:D

It's a nice marina with fresh water and gas. It's a bit tricky geting out of the basin on your first time so get some instructions first. Be really careful getting out in the fog also as it can be really thick from the end of the dock to Whiffen Spit. You'd have no problems with a nice mapping GPS.

thanks. you guys got me all nervous about getting out of the basin. i am looking at a new gps. i dont know if my hand held magellan, linked to the laptop will be sufficient or not. but i think the accountant might approve the cost of a new unit:Dheres hopin..

Dont worry leanord getting out of the basin is very easy I have done it over 1000 times with no problem ever the biggest problem is avoiding sunken crab floats. if you know how to read a chart you will be fine or follow one of the guys out.

good luck Wolf

got charts today, the accountant had to go out of town for a day or two, so i stopped at west today:D, more damage.. everytime i go in there i cant seem to leave with what i originally planned to buy.. oh well its all good!!

hey lenard - you need to start going to trotac buddy, you'll save a lot over west marine.

1 gallon of ablative paint

West Marine: $225
Trotac: $165

Same brand, exact same paint.

good to know, thanks. this is my first boat. we had it at halls last year, but did not catch much except for some cod, but the crabbing was good, i have fished out of pedder with a buddy a few times. never caught anything there either. but the bug has got me now, and its time to get serious, i need to catch a salmon!!!:D:D, i have been reading just about everything on this great site, time to practice . thank you all for your insight and wisdom!!

funny thing about this sport, once you start you cant stop, wait till your off sooke and hit 2 over 20lbs all by yourself, you wont be able to sleep till you get out again,:D lol

you know i grew up in southern alberta, watching al the fishing shows of people fishin here on the west coast, and i always dreamed that one day i could come and fish these same waters. now that i can, i thank my lucky stars that there is such a wealth of information from the people on this site. and to think, my kid brother is still going to be catchin' slough sharks and lookin for a tree to pee behind!!:D:D

you'll be catching fish soon enough, just pic 1 or 2 spots in your area and learn them really well, you'll have better success then if you always run to what ever spot was hot in the weekly fishing report.

Len ill be there in less than 4 weeks you will see me bring over some beer and we can chat about what you want to know mines the glasply with the pod and merc opti on the back of it just come by and introduce yourself.

Good luck Wolf

sounds good, i like beer. ive got a 24.5 reinell sedan . just finishing up all the safety stuff, and mounting a kicker.tryin to figure out my gps. i have a handheld magellan, and downloaded the charts from the internet, but cant seem to get it onto my sd card.
i wont drop it in until everything is right.
