Mooching rods

Hi everybody I've been wanting too try a mooching rod and reel set up. A buddy just gave me a old but very low use Japanese made Daiwa 275 reel. I
Wonder what type of rod too buy for it. Now I don't live in BC any more and now I fish Great slave lake targeting lake trout that run 10 too 45 plus pounds. Also I want too run this rod and reel on a down rigger. Thinking low too mid level cost. Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Any mooching rod will do I'd look for used on this board and ask if they'll ship.

OTOH fishinghole in Edmonton sells these units that are everything you want/price is right and for sure they'll ship north probably do it every week
