Modifying Bauer Traps to Meet New Prawn Trap Regulation

Make little sense, but it looks good to the unknowledgeable urban voters that DFO and their political masters like to fool into thinking DFO is actually managing our public fisheries well.

I was at Bauer traps this morning, He asked me to post this. Here is a fix that is being supplied to Bauer trap suppliers. It will be supplied with new traps. Or available for purchase.

Do we think the clipped wires will rust fast? Maybe no big deal.
If you look at your traps closely there are clipped ends in numerous place. I’ve had 4 of my traps since 2012, fished the regularly, rinsed with freshwater before storage and have no signs of rust of corrosion on any raw ends. I don’t think it will be an issue, Bauer uses very high quality mesh in their traps

Yes, the Bauer trap uses a high quality mesh. Some don't.

This would work but I think they should be set up so the door falls in otherwise it would hang up on everything boat.

Do you have to replace all cordage/bungees that hold the trap door with rot chord? Or can I leave my door bungee and have a 11cmx11cm opening with rot chord on the top?

Just the top opening. See BC Coast Pilots post above. I bought these. $5.00 each. comes with all you need and is easy to do. I am now glad I did not modify my trap door. Everything functions as it did before.
