Mid -Island Christmas Get Together?

Anyone in the Alberni/Qualicum/Nanoose/Nanaimo into a get together?

Hey Derby, even though I'm up in CR I'd be open to getting together. But I think it might be tough to do the Christmas New Years thing. With the other get togethers already planned on the site plus work, office parties, and family commitments doing something in the new year might be better. Besides, that gives us all another reason to get together. After all the hubbub of the holiday season, plus the winter doldrums, you have the best location to pull together guys from almost the whole island. Only an hour or so drive for most of us by the sounds of things. Why not try to throw together an impromptu derby and barbecue for some time in January?

Not trying to tell you what to do by any means, just a suggestion. Either way, I'm up for trying to put something together.

Mid-Jan thing would work well for me also-Maybe make it the mid Jan. gathering

Sounds good. Let's make it happen. Only day that doesn't work for me is the 28th as long as we have at least three weeks notice on the date. I'm off the 8th/9th, and the 22nd/23rd. Have to work the 15th/16th. The 22nd/23rd would definitely be about the time mid winter cabin fever would be settling in. How does that sound?

But I do like the get together idea. What about a morning fishing in Nanaimo area followed up by drinks and grub at the Dinghy Dock?
We could even do a mini derby with weigh in at pub dock. I'm good to go pretty much any Saturday or Sunday wind permitting.

Knowing a bunch of the guys at Courtenay F & G I'd have to say that they were the clowns. Now if Cuba Libre has his phone and internet fixed I'm sure that he'll slam dunk me pretty quick for my smartass comment

Okay, so we agree that January 22nd would work so lets go for that. We could call it the "ECVI Frozen Fish Classic Meet and Greet" since I'm guessing in mid Jan it's us that would be doing the Freezing. Fishing Derby first, drinks and food after. Weather permitting of course. What do you think Derby, I'd be happy to work with you to organize the thing since this was originally put forward by you and Im new to the island and don't know the area worth a crap. Let me know.

Well if it were Parksville or Qualicum....French Creek ..I would be there tomorrow.. South of that should be posted as Nanaimo..NO???
