Guess the lesson here is get a fixed quote in writing from a business and if the marine shop finds more work that they feel is needed to be done ,pushing the cost above that quote, then an agreement in writing that any additional work and costs has to be approved by owner prior to being done.

Don't quite understand how Raven could have continued doing the work with the bill constantly increasing, unless there had been some sort of approval from the owner for the increasing cost ....or at the very least some communication as to what the customers top limit was ??? Raven did win the court decision so I can only assume the customer didn't provide any cost limit/budget and Raven didn't provide any fixed quote so... The sky was the limit!
 
OUCH! At least it sounds like the boat now has a good possible resale price!

Seems like miscommunication in both directions.
