2003 Merk 90hp 4 stroke, 25" leg, with controls and 3 props a 17" a 19" and a 21" $3000.00
I have had the motor for 3 seasons, It runs great, starts instantly, idles smooth at 1000rpm and pulls strong to its 6200 rpm max.
Sorry guys. I sold it last night.

This is the motor I was posting about last week. Meticulous. I wish it would fit on my boat.

Hey what size boat was this off of? Think it would push a 17.2 Hourston OK? How many hours are on it? Anyone else with information on power required for a 17' boat is appreciated. It currently has an old 2 stroke 115 and seems to be just enough. Thanks

If your boat ain't water logged a 115hp 2 stroke that is running right should be more than adequate.

It is more than adequate, pushes it great with 3 guys and loaded with gear, rarely run at WOT. I'm just concerned if I go down to a 90 HP might not be enough, or constantly running full away.

I agree, your Houston should fly with a 115. I have a 18.2 hourston hardtop with a pod ( 2 foot hull Extention ) and flat out with a flat calm day, the 90 makes it go 31.9 mph. It goes that speed regardless of the load. I don't get that part either, must be the boat.

Your max speed will be determined by RPM and propeller I believe. The load may just slow it down from getting on plane. Mine does 35MPH wide open. Thanks for that, maybe a 90 would suffice for what I need.

I've got a 100 on my 18' Campion, holeshot is amazing, but 90 will definitely suffice, I plane at 3600. I got my 16.5 on plane with up to 3 guests with a 50, and wings. That being said, I ran that motor up at 4600 just to plane.
