Mercury 250hp issues… warranty coverage?

I learned the hard way of NOT having a racor main engine died going over to fuel dock (in victoria) in rough water heading to rocks kicker down was able to get back to marina !!!!! back at marina a little bit of water was visible in the merc bowl/filters ... from that day on RACOR in every boat ive ever!!!! had even lodge boats.

I suggest the same for AB its easy and cheap and first defence and easy to view/drain cant get any simplier and your boat is way to damn expensive not to
Racors have saved me also. Picked up some water in my fuel tank while anchored offshore due to a faulty check valve on my fuel vent line. Drained the recors multiple times on the run in. Probably would have shut the mains down if I didn’t have one on each engine.

Having a racor is critical, if you ever get bad fuel it is the first defence in your fuel system. If your mercury engine filter alarm goes off is it easy to get at at sea?
Racors are just one quick look at once in a while, no water just go. The engine filters stays clean longer, and I change my racors every 2 years unless I get dirt in them. For the few bucks it is worth it
I have 2 racors as my tank has dual outlets , one for each main and kicker t off one.
I have gotten bad gas with dirt in it before. Was nice to see before I went out as it saved me a headache at sea.
If you have the racor as first defense how often do you change the main engine fuel/water separator filter? Is it less than recommended since you have the racors?

I still follow the recommended intervals on the engine filter on my engines. I could go longer but why? Cheap insurance.
I do all my own maintenance so I save on labour
Noted 👍. During the fall when I did the maintenance for the first time on the Seapro I only changed the racor filter not realizing about the one in the engine. Will change out shortly.

I believe they say 300hr for those on our Mercs, but I do it every 100hr as well

I just looked it up to see what I did it turns out I didn’t change the fuel filters. I just followed the 100 hour schedule. This summer I put 50 hours on that new motor.

I wouldn't waist the money changing them every oil change (assuming you haven't had a code/ fuel trouble, and run a racor). 300h is the interval. I've always done mine on the 300h without issue.

I do have the racor and no codes yet. We will follow the schedule 👍

You’re getting some big runs in 👍. In my area everything is pretty close. My big run would be 16 minutes out to Sangster. Most everything else is 5-10 minutes except French Creek which would be about the same as Sangster.
Fish Central. Love it.

I keep and eye on it all summer and drain any water that is in it the racor ,,, but always change that racor every year , they are not expenisive compared to what is hanging on on the back of the boat ....
the motor one I follow what manual says.....

There’s a ton of racor 3213’s out there. Most appear to be knockoffs, hard to find the real racor on Amazon.

Wait until Harbour chandler has a sale and pick up a few. I have a stack of them and always carry a couple spares. I run my boat a lot so I always have spares on board
