Maybe a long shot but........

The reason for this being here is that anglers are of all steps in life, age is irrelevant, here all are on an even level. Our passion, i am presuming.

Thing is, I am moving to BC (North Van) and my plan is to live and work there until I have experienced all that i want in this paradise of yours. (might take a while)

My thought was that maybe, some of you need a worker.
A stubborn, strong, Icelandic angler that can do many things. I have work experience in many fields, never specialized in one thing but am good at many.
A cv can be sent if you are interested, recommendations as well.

I figure that it might be smart to look in here for leads because at least you guys already know a part of me (passionate angler).

Best regards, Gunnar Ólafsson.

I am the happy guy on the left, the little beauty on the right is my daughter, we caught this Arctic Char (2,86kg) on a fly we made together the night before(a fish egg replica)

Most likely you will never experience all that the BC outdoors has to offer. I gave up trying that decades ago! Hope your job search is successful.
Cheers

If you want to make fishing part of your working life, you could try Oak May Marine Group over the winter/next spring when they hire for next summer's workers at their resorts on the coast. You would miss your girl next summer though. The wages are not large, but it is free room and board, is all about the fishing and you get to experience the BC outdoors. Several of my friends have enjoyed the experience. see www.obmg.com

Gunner: hope your families transition is smooth and not too difficult. If you fish/hunt you would be pressed to pick a nicer place to move to on this planet.
Not sure why you picked North Van to move to unless you have people there. I was born & raised there and back in the 60's & 70's it was a great and affordable place to live; now it's hugely expensive and suffers from condo-expansieitus.

Can't do Vancouver any more. Takes forever to get any where. Not the same it used to be.

Good luck to you and yours.

Little Hawk: I will be living in Deep cove to start off, know good people there.
It seems like a nice little place to live in, and I want to be close to a city for a while(I live in a country with 300.000 people in it )
I will be coming alone, my daughter lives with her mother but will come as often as possible to visit me so I just cant wait to be at a new place(it is always a good experience.

NautiGirl: I will definately look into this, I come from a line of fishermen(7generations) and have had both my own vessels and fished for others so I would enjoy trying out new seas. :)

Welcome to a new start in North Vancouver. I live here too. Despite being expensive here, it is a fantastic place to live for the outdoorsman. LH is correct, condo's are popping up everwhere, but this is not just a North Vancouver phenomenon.....its Vancouve, Maple Ridge, Port coquitlam, Richmond, Delta , langley, ....ok everwhere, even on Vancouver Island. My last trip through Nanaimo and in Ukee .....yep I was shocked .....lots of new condo complexes. Just part the modern times, providing living space at a more affordable price than a house ( due mainly to land availability and land prices now). North Van has most of everything and all easily accessible: Mountains , forest trails, streams, lakes, rivers, beaches, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and skiing.....and all so close. Just far enough away from downtown that it feels 'away' from the big city and yet only 15-2o to downtown for your dazzling nightlife experiences and fine dinning at its best.
If you'd like work in a fishing/boating related field on the North Shore maybe contact Dave Steele at Highwater Tackle. He may have some part time work or know of someone who does. Highwater Tackle is on lower Londsdale in North Vancouver and is more geared to fresh water fishing. Also Sewells Marina or Thunderbird Marina in West Van could be a source for some marine related work.

Will drive to Lonsdale to check this out, thank you Peahead. :)

I am no just focusing on fishing/outdoors related work, I have experience in both electricity (ABB high voltage) and am currently working as a mechanic fixing shift work container lifters(Kalmar/Toyota/Noel/Hyster). :)

Thanks for all the leads, I will try to check every one of them when I get to BC. On a different matter, Is there brown trout in BC?

brown trout.........not in the interior of bc that i know of. mainly rainbows, bulls, lake, and brookies that i know of. im far from an expert though! good luck with the move! you will love b.c.!!!!!

Brown trouts have been introduced to some lake and river systems in BC. Here on VI there are browns in the Cowichan River and Lake, Cameron Lake and likely Little Qualicum River therefore. I know of some very small local lakes around Victoria that have a few browns. There will be some Rivers and Lakes in the Interior as well. Best you buy the Fishing BC book and there you find a list of good fishing waters with stock composition.
