Hi everyone,
I've got a 14' Marlon aluminum boat and 20hp Tohatsu outboard. Fully loaded, the boat weighs around 400lbs. Marlon uses a one-size-fits all approach with 1250lb capacity leaf springs for their trailer (which extends or collapses to suit each size of boat they make). The ride is very jarring/hoppy in my opinion... even rolling 10km/hr down a gravel path is road has been enough to back off my transom straps and unseat the boat.
I'm thinking I would benefit from swapping leaf springs to a lighter weight capacity like 800lbs. That sound right?
