It's the second one I've heard of-the other one was 8 or 10 years ago again just out of Westport.
Too bad they killed the thing though-Striped Marlin have brown coarse flesh and are poor eating.

A couple of years back when we had el nino a guide friend of mine got a barracuda off of otter pt but it was all banged up and looking very ugly i think it was going to die soon anyways.

I've heard of hammerhead sharks and thresher sharks showing up during El Nino years.

I've caught a Mackerel near Gibsons once. It's odd for being in the strait, but not too note worthy. I know they can get pretty thick on the West side of the island.

in the begginning of sept this year, a friend of mine got a mackeral off malcolm, thats pretty far up for them. also when i was fishing pill point a little while ago, we saw a beer can bobbing around and grabbed it as it went by, and somebody had tied it to a mackerals tail, which we thought was pretty funny, but set the thing free anyways.

Thanks Captain Dudds
