Subject: FN0107-Recreational Salmon - Chinook - Strait of Juan de Fuca - Portions of Areas 19 and 20 - management measures - March 1, 2025.
Effective 00:01 hours March 1, 2025, until 23:59 hours March 31, 2025, the daily limit for Chinook Salmon is two (2) per day, hatchery-marked only (Retention of unmarked Chinook is not permitted). These measures apply in the following waters:
Subareas 19-1, 19-3, 19-4, and Subareas 20-4 to 20-7 (those waters near Victoria between Cadboro Point and Sombrio Point).
Reminder: The minimum size limit for Chinook in these waters is 45 cm.

Variation Order: 2024-RFQ-264 in effect.
Please note that management measures in effect starting April 1, 2025, will be announced via subsequent Fishery Notice(s).
 
Sadly, me thinks there will be more restrictions on chinook this year, especially for areas 19-20. We are the only fishing sector that DFO feels they can screw with endless regs. to try to make up for their chronic incompetence, mismanagement and bias against the public fishery. Add to this the likely shorter halibut season this year and probable increased SRKW "protection" measures and you have to feel for the south island guides and fishing related businesses. :mad:

Reinforces my plan to fish Queen Charlotte Straits.

Yeah did you know those fish fly from north tip of island then land at sheringham point to swim past area 19/20
 
To be honest shouldn't have any restrictions at ALL when it's been proven we are such a slight % for years . Years and years have proven this ,it's been shown the impact and their own science supports it .
Nanaimo wasn't touched up until recently And I personally fought for all and certain people laughed at area 19/20 .
