Yet to have a chance to fish mine, but I have a UV/Glow/Laser Ace-Hi Fly (same product, but by Silver Horde) and it fits very nicely inside a UV clear hoochie... acting like a gum puckie, second hooch, and mylar all in one.

Haven't fished it yet, but it sure looks fishy!

JeffyWC - I'll pm you a photo when I am not in the office :)

I have The Silver Horde ones as well in all the usual colors.....(UV/Glow) I tried them a few times last summer at Swiftsure. Not a real good test because the feeders out there are aggresive and take most lures. Not to say that some don't work better than others. But as Hambone mentioned I too still prefer just to use hootchies. They didn't seem to do any better or any worse than any of my regular gear but the thing I didn't care for was that after a few fish the stiff tinsel type material used in the skirt seemed to take quite a beating and looked pretty ratty..........

Had a couple of white ones on the big charter boat last year...the glow,uv, polar bear flash...destroyed the Coho as good as any...one slower day that lure hit 4 of the 5 fish. We were fishing 6 rods that day as usual. Change out those red hooks and sub in some 3/0 Octopus SS ones. I'd use again given the same scenario

the purple haze one (purple stripe clear body uv) is an absolute killer in Barkley. I prefer the grand slam bucktails to the lure Jensen but all the same **** anyway. If I could only have one it would still be the T-rex cuttlefish as in Reel Slims picture.

Come to think of it some days it all catches fish. Maybe someone can start a thread what gear doesn't work.
My nomination is the baitrix but I'm sure someone will put up a picture with a nice fish a baitrix anchovy special in its mouth. .......won't be my boat though

baittrix.....what a fad. I used them one day smeared in smelly jelly at the Cap.....all I caught were jacks...left them on the boat I swore I'd never run again....lol...that boat still charters to this day....somehow...out of False Creek.

I did the same thing a couple of times and never caught a thing. I saw one of the fishing shows where they were using them and slaying them. I threw mine away.

there is some method to all of this tackle. in the strait, we have an abundance of sand lance and pilchard. all these various products represent are different color phases of those sand lance. the white UV glow is always a hot item probably because of the small squid that are also around from time to time. I know folks sort of randomly change their gear but you might consider looking at the stomach contents of a fish or two and then adjusting your gear next time out. my pilchard flies outfished everything and everyone for a couple of years once those small 'bait' fish arrived in the area. the other thing to consider is length of your offerings. too often we take something out of the package and start fishing with it. trimming the length can also make a big difference in success. and just like the size of bugs in fresh water, salt water offering early on should be shorter. just a few thought from a long in the tooth old timer. see'yah out there.

likewise, I tried them offshore tofino, we were nailing springs steady all day, i put down the baitrix, not even a hit, put scent on it, still no hits left it down for close to an hour. I'll never use them again.

I heard the "trout size" baitrix works pretty good in the chuck....the small one they make for trout.

One other neat and productive hoochy I have used is one with a spinner just above the nose similar sized blade to a trout spinner haven't used them is years but when I was a kid fishing hardy we ran one without the spinner on the nose and one with same coloured hootchy with no spinner and there was a major difference in productivity spinner side was very steady. You can buy the kits on amazon was thinking of giving them another go this season and making them up myself with my favorite hoochies and run the test again.

seafever I was looking at the trout size baittrix yesterday, looks like a small piece of herring strip, guy at wholesale sports said they were just slayin springs on them last year, adding scent and droppin em down deep. I know another guy that runs the fake anchovy baittrix and swears buy it.i think I would just swear at them myself.. i'll use the real deal :)

I had a couple really good days on springs with this last year in Barkley Sound and Banjo .....
