Lowrance local time issue

Thought I would post this here, as this could be an issue if you use the built in tides on your Lowrance GPS.

I noticed that the local time on the Lowrance was out one hour due to the daylight savings time change over. A work around for this problem is to set your GPS to use the American local time. Go into the system setup and pick set local time and look for the DST setting. Change it from Canada to USA and the system will then keep correct time.

Lowarnce GPS software thinks we should change to DST on the first weekend of April not the second weekend of March.

thanks glg.
i was unaware that the tides would be different too.
so i guess in april the unit will have to be turned back again.
too bad lowrance doesnt have downloadable software to keep upto date.. i wonder if the hd units are the same.

Hey tmit22 long time no hear from.

No you wont have to change your GPS in April. It's just a table in the software telling it what date to change to DST. We follow the American dates for spring and fall. So as long as you change it now it will work for the rest of the year. I don't know if there if a flash update that corrects the problem as I have not gone to deep with Lowrance software. But if you want a good laugh have a look at the Comox Harbour tide chart. It shows that high tide is negative 1600 feet. That would be a wee bit low for launching my boat.

Good question about the HD units as I have not looked at that one. I can tell you that the older ones are where the problem shows. Seen it on two different models. Look on the satellite page and check the time. If it is out an hour then it needs the fix

Same problem with my Furuno NavNet 3D gear. I contacted them for a patch--there is none (yet). They said set it for Mountan Time for a few weeks till the old time switch occurs.

Mine had the right time today???and has all the time???so i really dont know.....
