Lower Mainland Lakes Fishing Discussion (2025)

Thought it would be good to discuss how everyone's been doing at the local lakes this year! I just got a 14' Marlon deep V back in July and have been enjoying exploring the local waters with some small fish here and there to boot. I can't complain too much because the scenery is always fantastic.

So far I've tried Aloutte Lake (3 times), Chilliwack Lake (2 times) and Stave Lake (1 time). Success rate in that order. I don't have down riggers on the boat yet, so I've been trolling with 4oz weights in 20ft-40ft of water along the edges of each lake of using a kokanee dogger with tomic wee tads, spin n' glows and small spoons. I've hooked a bigger rainbow at Aloutte and a bigger rainbow at Chilliwack (my only bite of the day there). Stave was a learning experience navigating the buoy "channel" in low water recently and ultimately yielded a 4 hour trip of nothing but "window shopping" fish on the sonar. Not a single nibble or fishing rising on the surface!

Next on the list is to try Pitt Lake and Cultus Lake now that summers over and the launches shouldn't be so crazy. And get some down riggers going for these deep lakes!
