low cost DIY fishing stuff

I used to really enjoy those days fishing the breakwater when I was a kid!
Like you, nothing but pileworms, but I used old wheel weights the little metal tabs were just right for tieing to a drop line!
There used to be quite the social gathering out there, good old boys and girls!

This makes me think of a story my ex-wife told me about herself and her mom (my ex-motherinlaw) on the breakwater at the kid's derby.
She was learning how to cast, and burried the hook in her mom's leg.

Kind of makes me wish I was there :D

Jigs. They look stupid but they work! The one on the bottom is not quite finished yet.

Hey Bird.

What are we looking at??
Is that pipe. What kind?? Are you filling it with something??

thanks

That is stainless pipe. The same stuff that the boat tops are made with. Each jig is 10 to 12 inches long and about 3/4 or 2/3 filled with lead.

Love it when you come up with some kinda jig AND it catches fish. Good job there

cheers

Been using that for years. It's great. Somehow, I always wind up with a few in my pocket after each fishing trip so I'm always buying more for the boat. It's also great for tying up loose cables around the house or computer.

Was always throwing them in my pocket as well. Now I wrap it around the rod butt above the reel and it stays there for the day of fishing.

Thanks for the tip there,Dave.I'm heading down there tomorrow to grab a pack for myself! Always seem to be
missplacing or losing them as well.
