Good observation Gunsmith! You are right on point.
I would prefer the 5.0 with the Duoprop. Been told that is the most fuel efficient.

From what I understand, there is very little difference between the 5.0 and 5.7. I believe they are the same Chevy engine block as they fit into the same footprint. Fuel economy stats are very similar, however to achieve the same speed, the 5.7 does it at lower RPMs so technically doesn't work as hard as the 5.0. In a 23' boat, that wouldn't be a major difference -- but there are a couple of guys on the Striper forum that have swapped the 5.0 for the 5.7 so you might want to read some.

I've got the Mercruiser dual prop system which I believe is a product they licensed from Volvo. The major difference I've noticed is the low speed handling around the docks. The props immediately bite and turn the boat very quickly. I'm able to maneuver the boat easily and turn inside my old 19' Striper. The new Merc prop setup uses a 4 blade inner and 3 blade outer and I have this one now.

Pardon my blindness I completely mistook the 5.0 for mpg not liter displacement.[:I]

2003 2301 Striper w/Alaska Pkg. 5.0 I/O (only 118 hrs on the engine)8 horse high thrust Yamaha kicker with Gold Auto pilot, Lowrance LCX37, 2 new ProPak Scotties, Nutra Salt System installed, Cabin has never been slept in... The boat is in great condition for an 03'. Can't wait to take it out!

Hey Congratulations -- that was just the boat you were looking to buy!!!

Sounds like the same boat that was for sale and then sold on the SOC site? Did that sale fall through or is it just a similar setup? The Autopilot will be a nice bonus.

I picked this one up in Graham, Wa. Where was the other one located? Can't wait to take her up to WCVI for some Halibut in June. Got 3 more trips to WCVI planned for Salmon this summer. This is the first boat that I have owned that will allow me to fish the Highway and other locations "Outside". I'm excitd to be able to do that. Until now, all I could do was sit at the dock and listen to other fishermen tell me where they caught all their fish!
