Look to salvage my old johnson 75 , it a shot in dark but if anyone in the nanaimo area has or knows somebody with an old johnson 75 for parts im all ears

Hey Jeff, on the way out of Port Alberni this morning I passed what looked to be about a 15'6" hourston on a trailer with a 70 johnson, asking price was $800. looked in good shape, smokin deal for someone

Your right guys that sounds like a good deal but the boat i have now is so ugly my landlord wont even let me keep it at my house, let alone two boats I found a used powerhead here in town for 400 bucks, going to look at it tomorrow, with any luck my Fugly boat will come back to life.

If its still there...... There was a motor junk yard in Campbell River. I can't think of the name of the place but they had everything a guy ever wanted in Johnson and Evinrude parts. They had Yamaha but got out of it.

Thanks Fish Assassin, i emailed them this morning hoping to hear back from them soon, the powerhead i found here in Nanaimo is used but in good shape for 400 bucks, hopefull they can have something around the same price, as all i need is the powerhead and can swap all the other goodies over from the blown unit.:)

That's what i thought too, i do have the bottom 2 -3 inches of my skeg busted off to, it dosn't seem to bother the handling much but having a new lower unit would be nice too,He also has a mint block but then i would be into it too much money with new pistons and rings and gaskets n stuff, it is what it is, not my forever boat, but for now it has been alot of fun.

Early 80's for sure. Is there a model number stamped on the mounting bracket? The model number can be used to determine the model year.

if you go to page one you can see the damage to cylinder. will try n check for number later today but i was told they only made 75 for two years, and it is the exact same block as 70..dunno..

They made the 75hp from 1975 through 1988. Yours is somewhere between 1980 and 1986.

funny story: here we are 2 motors in pieces..waiting for rings and gaskets when the neighbor from down the road pulls up in his car to my mechanic friends house and say's "hey is that a 70? fudge man i have a complete running one in my back yard you can have"..The Fish gods are smiling on me today...not everyday but today for sure...:)

You gotta love it when it all comes together when your not expecting it. As Assassin says better buy that man a beer or 2

today i learned if someone tells you something that sounds to go to be true..it probably is..three good johnson legs..three scrap powerheads..
